Lakeside Church of Chicago was founded in June 1943, a small group of Japanese believers met for the first time in an apartment in Chicago. The website introduces its history including how Japanese American incarcerees after being freed from the camps came to Chicago and gradually established the church. 1

The research process encompassed the gathering of intimate firsthand accounts spanning multiple generations, encompassing narratives from Issei, Nisei, Sansei, Yonsei, and subsequent cohorts. Accessing and examining precious archival materials preserved within churches and church congregations was allowed, further enriching our understanding of the subject matter. One of the church commuters had his collections of materials related to Japanese American history around World War II. The materials he had included the actual poster of Executive Order 9066.

They value hospitality, respect, care, and love for each other to be taught and embraced. 1
