The altar The Buddhist Temple of Chicago has that was actually used in the incarceration camp.

The Buddhist Temple of Chicago was founded on October 8, 1944. It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Chicago.1

As well as holding community services, they preserve Japanese American history by keeping the sign and altar that was actually used in the Buddhist temple in the incarceration camp. Because this place works as a community, too, they are vwilling to help people who want to learn about Japanese American history. They also keep the historical materials, such as photos of the altar and the history behind it so the visitors can read and look at them to learn.

We engaged in a conversation with Ruby, a devout churchgoer, to gain valuable insights into her lived experiences within the camp and the subsequent phase of her resettlement.
